What the old-age pension is made of

Albania's old-age pension is calculated from a base sum — the ratio of your own insured years to the years required under Neni 92, multiplied by the social pension — plus a flat yearly increment of 1,0 % for every year of insurance service on top of that base. This section explains both halves of the formula, the required age under Neni 92, and the early-retirement route under Neni 31/1 — without computing the amount itself, because one of the formula's own key inputs is not published (see the "Pension amount" page).

This section covers Category II/III (the general conditions) of Neni 92 only — not Category I (underground work), which carries a lower age and is not covered here. The figures come from Ligj Nr. 7703/1993, as amended through ligji nr. 65/2020, and have not been through our final sign-off.

No route was found to an old-age pension on insured years alone, regardless of age — no such provision exists in the articles of Ligj 7703/1993 reviewed for this section.
