Minimum wage
Albania has a national gross monthly minimum wage, in force from 1 January 2026. It also serves as the minimum contributory base for social and health insurance.

Albania has a single national gross monthly minimum wage of 50 000 L, in force from 1 January 2026 and raised from its previous level on that date. It is set by decision of the Council of Ministers — VKM nr. 776, datë 19.12.2025 “Për përcaktimin e pagës minimale në shkallë vendi” — and applies to every employer in the country, with no regional variation. Expressed by the hour, it works out to roughly the monthly figure divided by the standard monthly working hours.
It is also the contributory floor
The minimum wage does double duty. The same 50 000 L is the minimum contributory base for social and health insurance: contributions are never charged on a base below it. In practice that floor only bites when gross falls under the minimum — for standard full-time employment at or above the minimum, the base is simply the actual gross (with social insurance capped at its own ceiling). Because the tax-free threshold on the income tax also sits at 50 000 L, a worker on exactly the minimum wage pays no income tax at all — only the contributions.
What people actually earn
The minimum wage is a legal floor, not a picture of the typical salary. For scale: according to INSTAT, the average gross monthly wage runs at about 90 119 L — several times the minimum. Use the minimum wage to know the bottom of the lawful range, and the calculator above to see what any particular gross turns into after tax and contributions.
The figure is the one in force, taken directly from the gazette notice, cited above.
